Gentle Trail to Mount Nanos from Razdrto

Težavnost:Moderate
Kategorija:Hiking trail

Nanos, a mighty and striking peak between central Slovenia and the Primorska region, where views of the Alps, Snežnik, and Primorska open up at an elevation of 1,313 meters, is an extremely popular hiking destination in the Postojna area. Several trails lead to the summit. For families with small children and anyone who prefers to avoid very steep slopes, we recommend the gentle trail from Razdrto. This trail winds through grassy slopes and quiet forests, offering increasingly expansive views as it approaches the summit. Here, Nanos reveals its simple beauty and offers a relaxing, inspiring hiking experience.

The trail begins at the parking area in Razdrto and follows a paved road across a bridge over the motorway to a junction marked by hiking signposts. Nearby, you will also find a rest area with a drinking fountain, where you can refill your water bottle with fresh spring water from beneath Mount Nanos. Turn left onto the gravel road and soon reach a right-hand turn onto the hiking trail for Nanos. The path initially climbs across a grassy slope before entering the forest and leading to a junction after a few minutes.

Continue straight along the gentler route, which crosses a scenic meadow before gradually entering the forest. You’ll climb diagonally toward the northwest, partly through the forest and partly along open slopes with magnificent views of Snežnik. After about an hour and a half of walking, a trail leading to the Church of St Jerome will join yours from the left. (The church itself can be reached via a short three-minute descent.)

Head right toward Vojko’s Hut and follow the pleasant ascent up the grassy, scenic mountain slope. After around 30 minutes, the trail enters the forest and soon reaches Vojko’s Hut, located just below Pleša, the most prominent peak of Mount Nanos. The hut offers food and drinks as well as accommodation. Return to the valley along the same route.
