Sovič Recreational Cycling Route

The circular recreational route begins at Čukovca, behind Sovič Hill, and leads across the rolling landscape of Poljane all the way to Veliki Otok. The first section follows a well-maintained gravel path that winds between trees and dense shrubbery. After two kilometres, you will reach a viewpoint above the village of Veliki Otok, just above the Church of St Catherine. From here, you can enjoy sweeping views across the Pivka Basin, surrounded by karst plateaus.

The route then descends into Veliki Otok and follows the main road towards Postojna Cave. After crossing the bridge over the Pivka River, continue along a linden tree avenue until the first left turn, which leads back to the starting point at Čukovca. Right next to the starting point in Čukovca, at the foot of Sovič Hill, you’ll also find the Postojna pump track, where you can test your skills in dynamic riding over bumps.
