The Pivka River flows over a small weir, creating a gentle waterfall beside a wooden footbridge. The surrounding park-like landscape is dotted with trees and open meadows.

The walk begins at the Church of St Anne in Hrašče, a Late Baroque church built in 1796. Turn right and head north toward the isolated tree of a beech-fir forest.  At the end of the village, keep right and continue along the road for approximately two kilometres to Cene’s Mill. Along the way, you’ll pass through a Natura 2000 protected area that provides a habitat for many animal species, including the globally threatened corncrake, one of the area’s best-known birds.

Located on the banks of the Nanoščica River, Cene’s Mill was once one of many mills operating along the watercourse. Today, the remains of the mill and its sawmill can still be seen. The mill is believed to have been active as early as 1763, and it existed until 1962. The land surrounding the mill is privately owned, but the owners have landscaped it as a park and welcome visitors to explore the site.

Continue your walk to nearby Landol, where a carters’ trail once ran; today, only the old tollhouse remains as a reminder of those times. In Landol, turn left and follow the main road towards Hrenovice. After approximately 1.5 kilometres, turn left onto a gravel road leading to the village of Hrenovice. At the end of the village, you can return to Hrašče via the paved road, although we recommend turning left onto the gravel track just before the power line and returning past the meadows, approaching Hrašče from the north.
