The Old Lady Museum (Stara Dama)

The Stara Dama (Old Lady) Museum is an engaging museum exhibition located in the visitor centre next to Predjama Castle. Admission is included with your castle ticket, making it an excellent addition to your visit. The museum offers fascinating insights into the social and natural history of the Postojna region, complementing the experience of exploring one of Slovenia's most remarkable medieval castles.

The museum features two main exhibitions:

  • The First World War and the Isonzo Front: This exhibition presents artefacts and equipment from the First World War, with a particular focus on the Isonzo Front, whose events profoundly shaped this part of Slovenia. It offers visitors a deeper understanding of the region’s wartime history while serving as a reminder of the value of the peace we enjoy today.
  • The Hunting Collection: The exhibition presents the rich hunting tradition and the wildlife of the Notranjska forests, from birds and roe deer to wolves and bears. Alongside hunting trophies, you’ll also find historic hunting tools, traps, and equipment that illustrate the everyday life and work of hunters in the past.

The museum is open throughout the year and follows the opening hours of Predjama Castle.
