Route itinerary Postojna - Sovič

The Sovič Nature Trail winds along the wooded slopes of the hill, leading visitors almost entirely through an area rich in diverse vegetation.

Along the trail, you’ll find 26 identified species of trees and shrubs growing side by side, which you can compare based on their appearance, leaves, fruits, twigs, or bark throughout the changing seasons.

At the summit of Sovič stand the ruins of Postojna Castle (Adelsberg), also known as the Old Castle, along with military tunnels and a spectacular viewpoint. From here, sweeping views extend across the town and the Pivka River plain. The outline of Nanoščica can be seen in the distance, and the panorama is framed by the peaks of Nanos, Suhi Vrh, Debeli Vrh, and Hrušica. On the way to the top, two viewing platforms offer a place to pause for a bit.

Practical info

You can also return to the town via the Historical Trail which offers the opportunity to discover another side of Sovič.

Although this is an easy trail, we recommend wearing appropriate walking or sports footwear.
