The Karst Museum exhibition takes you on an unforgettable journey through the world of karst, where you can discover:
- The origins of the karst landscape: Learn how limestone and dolomite shaped one of Europe’s most distinctive natural environments.
- Life in prehistoric times: Discover the animals that once roamed this region and explore the traces left behind by Neanderthals.
- Secrets of the underground: Discover what secret underground military operations, mysterious cave shrines of pagan worship, and eternal ice have in common.
- Cultural heritage: Admire the priceless treasure from Predjama Castle and learn how people adapted to life on the rugged karst terrain.
The museum is also an excellent destination for families. Children can observe cave animals under a microscope, clean a cave through interactive play, touch a stalactite (which is not permitted in nature), explore digital content on the museum’s Krasflix platform, try their hand at archaeology in the interactive archaeology corner, or enjoy the Jamar Junior play area.
Visitors who enjoy gamified experiences can also take on the Karst Hunt challenge.
The museum is fully accessible to visitors with reduced mobility and offers free parking.
